Two members of the Gallatin Writers' Guild recently took part in the local authors' expo hosted by the Livingston County Library. It was a good chance to sell a few books, put our names out there, and meet and chat with fellow authors. A quick reminder that Betty Mooney Plymell and Vila Gingerich will be attending the local authors' expo at the Livingston County Library tomorrow. Both Betty's Dreaming of Missouri and Vila's Growing Toward the Sun will be available for purchase. The event, which runs from ten to noon, is in the second-floor courtroom.
Over the last few weeks, two members of the Gallatin Writers' Guild had their work published in The North Missourian, a local newspaper. Jamie Beel's humorous story "The $300 Pie" was published on January 30, and Vila Gingerich's essay "Taking Flight" appeared in the March 27 issue. Watch future issues of The North Missourian for more guild members' work in this occasional series.
We're excited to announce that the Gallatin Writers' Guild will be represented at the upcoming local authors' expo at the Livingston County Library in Chillicothe, Missouri. The expo is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, from 10am--12pm and is free to the public. Shop for books, meet the writers, and support local authors!
Hoping to see you there! On February 21, guild members Jamie Beel and Vanessa Mullins manned a writing and art booth for the Daviess County Library's Explore Space: a Cosmic Journey student day. Jamie and Vanessa came up with writing prompts to fit the theme and helped kids explore space through the element of story. We were glad to support our wonderful library, as well as to help inspire budding writers. As writers, our goal is to create, whether that means stories or story-tellers.
November seventeenth meant Christmas Around the Square for the townspeople of Gallatin, Missouri. For three members of the Gallatin Writer's Guild--Vila Gingerich, Betty Plymell, and Vanessa Mullins--it also meant a book signing. Vanessa Mullins provided the space, and we set up at tables and booths inside her family business: the Moon Mullins Family Pool Hall on the Gallatin courthouse square.
